Case study · Patio & Driveway Cleaning

Sandstone patio and circle feature restored.

Years of accumulated grime, moss, and aggressive weed growth between the paving joints had completely buried the natural beauty of this garden patio. Thick organic buildup covered the entire surface in a dull, uniform grey layer, entirely obscuring the rich, warm natural tones of the Indian sandstone and hiding the intricate stone feature circle at its centre.

The challenge

What we found.

The slabs had turned a flat grey with weeds growing through many of the joints. The feature circle had almost disappeared into the rest of the patio.

Our approach

The result

A fresh finish.

The natural colour of the stone came back and the circle feature is once again the centrepiece of the garden.

“We’d forgotten the patio was this colour. It’s like having a new garden.”

Customer, Blackburn

The solution

How we revealed it.

Using a targeted cleaning process designed specifically for natural stone, we carefully cleared the deep-rooted weeds and removed years of embedded surface dirt and lichen without eroding the sandstone texture. Once the flat grey layer was lifted, the rich, natural colour variations of the Indian sandstone re-emerged, bringing the central feature circle back into full focus. Finally, we thoroughly rinsed the entire patio and outlined long-term jointing and sealing options to keep the space protected and pristine.

Extracted all stubborn weeds, moss, and loose debris from between the paving joints.
Surface-cleaned the Indian sandstone using a specialized low-pressure rotary washer tailored for natural stone.
Rinsed down all slabs, jointing gaps, and surrounding walls to leave a clean, mud-free area to dry.
Advised the client on suitable re-pointing materials and protective sealants to help prevent future weed growth.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Amazing service superb value. And Tom was very tidy and respectful of the grounds, he even moved all the pots and place them back exactly in place. Even made an extra special effort to not damage the grass which was very much appreciated. Thanks Tom a superb job and what a transformation! Would highly recommend! Took him a solid 5 and half hours in strong winds tbf. It looks mega. He even sent me a video of the work which, being as OCD as I am, just can’t stop watching! 🙋🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤣 Thanks Tom and Garry for a brilliant service

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a great experience with this company in September 2026. Communication was easy and prompt, and the team arrived on the agreed date. They did an excellent job cleaning the roof, gutters and surrounding areas—the roof looks almost new!
Although the work took longer than expected, they returned to apply the roof protection and made sure everything was left spotless. The bill matched the quoted price, too. We couldn’t recommend them more highly!

The team came out on Saturday, and I have to say the results speak for themselves — the quality of the work genuinely proves how professional and skilled they are.

Tom attended and was extremely polite, friendly, and professional throughout. He took great care with the job, and the standard of the finish was excellent. The difference after the clean was amazing and clearly showed the effort and attention to detail that went into the work.

The service was reliable, on time, and carried out to a very high standard. I would highly recommend Lancashire Exterior Cleaning Specialists to anyone looking for a professional and trustworthy company. I would happily give more than 5 stars if I could!.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had Tom out to clean my house, conservatory and garage roof, along with all facias and guttering. Could not fault Tom or his service, would definitely recommend these guys to anyone. I’ve had several people out over the years and they topped them all, everything looks brand new again. Would also like to add I have solar panels and no damage was caused, they took great care. Well worth the price!
