Case study · Roof Cleaning

A moss-covered roof, brought back to life.

Over years of exposure to the elements, damp weather and shaded conditions had allowed heavy moss to take hold across the concrete roof tiles of this terraced home. The thick, organic growth had spread across the entire structure, choking the drainage channels, spilling into the gutters, and severely darkening the overall roofline.

The challenge

What we found.

Thick cushions of moss covered almost every course of tiles, with debris already collecting in the gutter. The homeowner was worried about blocked rainwater flow and how tired the back of the house looked from the garden.

Our approach

Checked tile condition and access from the rear of the property before starting.
Removed the heavy moss with a rotary roof cleaner, working methodically down the slope.
Cleared the debris that fell into the gutters and tidied the area below.
Talked the homeowner through a follow-up treatment to help slow regrowth.

The result

A fresh finish.

The tiles returned to an even, clean finish and the gutters were left clear. The difference between the cleaned roof and the neighbouring section speaks for itself.

“I didn’t realise what colour our roof actually was until they’d finished. Tidy, careful and really friendly.”

Customer, Chorley

The solution

How we restored it.

Using specialized roof scraping tools matched to the profile of the concrete tiles, we carefully removed the thick moss cushions without applying harsh high pressure. We cleared all falling debris as we worked, keeping the gutters completely open and leaving the garden tidy below. A targeted soft-wash biocide treatment was then applied deep into the tile pores to kill off remaining microscopic spores and protect the roof against future organic growth.

Inspected the roof structure, tile condition, and rear access points to establish a safe working setup.
Scraped away the heavy moss buildup methodically from top to bottom using roof-profile scraping heads.
Cleared all gutters, rinsed down surrounding surfaces, and thoroughly tidied the garden area below.
Applied a professional-grade biocide chemical wash to eliminate invisible root systems and delay moss regrowth.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Amazing service superb value. And Tom was very tidy and respectful of the grounds, he even moved all the pots and place them back exactly in place. Even made an extra special effort to not damage the grass which was very much appreciated. Thanks Tom a superb job and what a transformation! Would highly recommend! Took him a solid 5 and half hours in strong winds tbf. It looks mega. He even sent me a video of the work which, being as OCD as I am, just can’t stop watching! 🙋🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤣 Thanks Tom and Garry for a brilliant service

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a great experience with this company in September 2026. Communication was easy and prompt, and the team arrived on the agreed date. They did an excellent job cleaning the roof, gutters and surrounding areas—the roof looks almost new!
Although the work took longer than expected, they returned to apply the roof protection and made sure everything was left spotless. The bill matched the quoted price, too. We couldn’t recommend them more highly!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had Tom out to clean my house, conservatory and garage roof, along with all facias and guttering. Could not fault Tom or his service, would definitely recommend these guys to anyone. I’ve had several people out over the years and they topped them all, everything looks brand new again. Would also like to add I have solar panels and no damage was caused, they took great care. Well worth the price!
